A fencer comes into the athletic training clinic complaining of pain in his shoulder that he has had for about a week. He indicates that he first hurt the shoulder when lifting weights but did not think it was a bad injury. During the past week he has not been able to lift because of pain. He has continued to fence during practice, but his shoulder seems to be getting worse instead of better. What is the standard evaluation scheme that the athletic trainer should use?
